The Saturday Round-up 7/10

The Ladies 1’s carried on their outstanding start to the season and made it 4 wins from 4! They keep progressing as a team, so much so that they have won 1-0, then 2-0, 3-0 and a great 4-0 on Saturday against Whitley Bay continued this amazing trend. Goals from Ella, Kait, Amelia and Chloe, whilst another clean sheet from keeper Bea meant the streak continues. Next week they face Newcastle University 5’s on home turf looking to make it 5 out of 5.

The Mens 1’s took on familiar foes in Carlisle at home. 2 teams of 11 meant the game started fast but fatigue set in and a slower game followed. Hector scored our goal with his first for the 1’s, having played 3’s last season, the youngster is showing why he’s in the team. Discipline lacked throughout unfortunately so needs to improve for next week’s away match against relegated opposition in North Shields 1’s. 

The Ladies 2’s took on top of the league Redcar 1’s. A tough and physical match unfortunately saw the team come out with a 2-0 loss. Despite lots of internal changes to the team yet again, the team were still playing good hockey and hope results will get back to normal next week when they take on Darlington 3’s on home turf. 

The Mens 2’s took a long journey to North Shields 2’s and came out with a 2-2 draw. Another much changed side with injuries and availability causing havoc, the team gelled quickly with Aaron scoring both goals. Next week the team have a bye week, so a chance to regroup and push on in a fortnights time. 

The Mens 3’s were in a pretty similar situation to the 1’s and 2’s with numbers a key factor. However the young side played well against Darlington 2’s with Mustafa scoring twice as well as Tom getting on the scoresheet. A 3-0 win makes it a decent start to the season and will look to push on further in a fortnights time, again like the Mens 2’s they have a bye week this Saturday.
