Junior Hockey Is Back But With Changes

Junior Hockey is back but with a big change

Following a review of our junior hockey offerings at Norton Hockey Club, the decision has been made to move older juniors training sessions to a Wednesday Evening. The first session being Wednesday 16th September. The times and schedule are outlined below.

There were numerous reasons for the change, including higher quality coaching available, increase in the number of sessions in the season and finally not competing against other sports locally.

However some junior sessions are not changing so this is the schedule for each age group.

Hotshots has been rebranded into Under 8’s and will continue to be on Sunday Mornings - 10:00-11:00. These will run in 6 week blocks starting Sunday 20th September. Post Christmas start date will be announced soon.

To summarise, there are now 4 age categories… and their training times are written next to them.

Under 8’s - Sundays 10:00-11:00

Under 10’s - Wednesday 18:00-19:00 (However, you are more than welcome to come along on Sundays if you feel it is too late on a Wednesday)

Under 12’s - Wednesday 18:00-19:00

Under 14’s - Wednesday 18:00-19:00

Please do get in touch with Josh (Junior Hockey Organiser) if you have any questions that are not used as examples below.

FAQ’s

Q: What if I have 2 children, one aged 7 and one aged 11?

A: Here we would encourage them to be at separate sessions, however if the 11 year old wanted to come along on a Sunday morning as well as their Wednesday session they can do. They would only be charged one training fee though.

Q: My son is 12, can he join the men’s session afterwards?

A: Yes! So with men’s training being on a Wednesday too, your son can do the 18:00-19:00 and then stay for the first 30’mins / 1 hour to blood them into adult hockey. Anyone over the age of 12 can attend adult sessions.

Q: My daughter is also 12, what is the best option for them?

A: Our answer would be to do both the Wednesday 18:00-19:00 as well as attending part of the Adult Ladies session on Tuesday nights. These run from 18:00-20:00. If you attended both, only one training fee would be applied as we would still like them to be a part of the Wednesday general junior sessions too!

Q: How much are the sessions?

A: Training sessions are £4. Compared to clubs and other sports around this is great value for the level of coaching we provide. There is also no membership fee so attendance can be as and when you feel.

Q: How can we pay/say we are coming?

A: Everything is done through Teamo, each session will be put on your calendar once signed up. You can mark whether you can or can’t attend a session, which helps our coaches plan better.
