Our ladies 1s travelled to Newcastle on Saturday to face Newcastle medics. We started off in the first half with some of the best hockey I’ve seen us play. The ball pace was good, our passing was good and we moved really well as a unit meaning we applied the pressure onto medics nice and early.
After some great attacking play Aislin won a short corner. The short corner didn’t quite go to plan however calm under pressure Chloe gave the ball back to Holly who smashed it into the back of the net! Medics had a few chances down the other end but thankfully we had some fantastic defending by Nicola in centre back and some nice saves from Bea that kept us in the game, especially when one of their players pulled a Kait Newby on target reverse shot. However, Kait decided she wanted to copy down our end putting a lovely reverse shot bottom corner taking us 2-0 up before HT.
In the second half we continued to work hard and absorb their pressure with 100% work ethic. Scarlett was also fantastic in the midfield creating some great attacking chances. This game was a great confidence boost for the ladies going forward! 2 wins out of 2! Keep it up
Girl of the game- Holly Featherstone… she’s just come back from a knee injury and had an amazing game in new positions and managed to bag herself a goal!!
