Ladies 2nd Team vs Stokesley 3

Ladies 2's make it 3 wins on the bounce

Norton 2nd team faced a young and skillful Stokesley 3s.

We started with a new formation, allowing width to play the ball out from the back. In the first half we did this very successfully and created lots of goal scoring opportunities. Julie Cook was solid and consistent in distributing the ball forward. We transferred it brilliantly through to midfield and forward line.

We still had what Joshua Fisher terms as the ‘Sat Nav’ switched on shooting when the pass would have secured a goal or driving straight into the dee. At times we were a little flat in structure up top, however, as the game progressed we did pass the ball more successfully and hold on to possession.

Our first goal came after 25mins. We secured a short corner and Juliette Brown’s shot deflected to Rachel Bradley who smashed it home. Stokesley gave us constant pressure in the middle, chasing down every loose ball and put us under pressure.

After half time we kept the pressure on, Jules hit the post again and the keeper kept us out. Our defence worked hard in pressing forward. Sarah Mac regained possession, who passed a beautiful ball to Amelie. She slipped Jules in to smash home in the bottom corner. Stokesley never game up and were rewarded with a goal. They also narrowly missed on an equaliser hitting the top left corner of the goal with a fantastic strike. Our focus and grit seen us secure the win. The game was played in great spirit

GOTG went to Liz Darragh who was so calm and composed in defence. She showed the defensive skills practiced in training, so it was well deserved.
