Our second longest trip this season got off to the perfect start! 2-0 up after just 10 minutes and Norton were flying. An Ariel through the middle of the pitch evaded their defenders and allowed Gary B to reintroduce himself back to action with a typical Gary B goal. He fought to get there first and force it past the keeper. Not long after we gained another short corner, and after a break down at the top of the circle, the ball found its way to Oli who absolutely nailed it through the keepers’ legs to make it 2-0. What came next was a slight drop off in intensity which allowed Tynedale to strike back through a questionable short corner award. Long of it was if you s**t yourself enough at a slightly high ball you will be awarded a foul… Tynedale followed this with some more good play leading to another short and another goal making it 2-2 at half time.
We came out fighting in the second half and dominated the play. Luke got slightly frustrated at a lack of decision making from the umpire which resulted in a green… harsh considering he only said ‘you’re the best umpire in the world’, or words to that effect.... Lesson learnt and he served his 2 minutes which seemed to inspire him. Winning a short corner with just 5 minutes left we had the chance to take the match. Up steps captain Josh to nail it between goalkeeper and post player. Ed described the celebration as slightly over the top… but passion takes over. Pure ecstasy was then replaced with relief after a quality counterattack to seal the 3 points. Josh to Oli, Oli to Luke, Luke to Gary and the with the backboard shattered, its 4-2… 3 points… thank you very much!
A long day but we deserved the win, MOTM went to Oli W and DOTD to Ed C for his post-match socks…
