Men's 1st Team vs Jesmond Parish Church 1's

Again will keep it short, but this week it’s short and sweet, not short and s**t. The mens 1’s took the early journey to Jesmond, hoping that the storm had disappeared. A slow start saw us trail after a mere few minutes… me then thinking, please no not again! However as Storm Babet ended, Storm Norton sprung into life! Sorry s**t pun but deal with it… we hit back and boy did we hit back hard! 

Oli got the ball rolling with a well worked shirt corner routine allowing a cheeky deflection from Josh’s flick. Luke then typically got involved through a well placed finish, followed by another quick fire strike from him again. A drag flick from Josh and a smash from Ed came very quickly afterwards. With Jesmond shellshocked, Josh hit the post players shoulder from another drag flick leaving Luke to step up for his hatrick from the penalty spot. With ease he put the ball past the keeper, despite the keepers best attempts to put Luke off (he tells me it was embarrassing chat…). If there was a contrasting half time team talk to the absolute ‘telling off’ from John last week, then today was the day. We couldn’t quite believe we were 6-1 up at half time after conceding so early…

Well worked goals were our forte today and this was summed up by our 7th of the game, some lovely play on the right led the ball finding Josh who slotted in Fin for his debut goal (very well deserved). We did finish the game giving away a few sloppy goals, but the overall performance today was a vast improvement on recent matches. The scoreline shows that we can score goals which we will be looking to do more regularly. 

MOTM today went to Oli, and DOTD amazingly was awarded to no one… even after a few honourable mentions!
